This discussion would not be complete without a discussion regarding our personal responsibility in our immune system. Our bodies are amazing structures that can withstand more than you can imagine. There are thousands of bacteria and viruses that we come in contact with daily, our immune system deals with most things in stride and we never know the battle that might be underway in our bodies. The average healthy human harbors an average of five viruses.
What can we do to help our bodies do the job it was designed to do, protecting us from “foreign invaders”? One recent study shows that people with a vitamin D deficiency run a higher risk of severe COVID-19. Vitamin C has also long been known to assist our immune systems. Another well known boost for our immune system and healing is zinc. Is it any coincidence that many of the therapeutic protocols for treating the China Virus include these three?
So many of us are busy and don’t take the time to eat properly, even if we are not overweight, we may not really be healthy. Taking a multivitamin and some of the above supplements could help your body be able to ward off not only the China Virus, but seasonal colds and flu. There are natural foods we can also incorporate in our diet and routine that could be beneficial. Green tea is known to have many benefits, as are dark chocolate and Muscadine grapes. A recent study indicates key compounds in these foods block an enzyme of the virus.
Since the virus cannot be stopped, we will all be exposed to it at some point. It is simply smart to have our bodies in the best position possible so our immune system can deal with this invader.
