It is important to understand much of the confusion about the effectiveness of masks comes from the differing levels of science being used to decide mask effectiveness. The highest level of science, therefore the best quality science, is a meta-analysis of several randomized controlled trials. The lowest level of science consists of expert opinions and anecdotal experiences. Since the CDC reversed their stance on masks, there has been a rush of low-level, low-quality science being produced to try and prove masks are effective. Mask mandate advocates simply don’t have the highest-levels of scientific evidence to support their arguments. They can only cite low-level science. To clear up the confusion, you simply have to rank the science. See what the high-level science has to say about the effectiveness of masks by clicking on the RESEARCH button.
Why do Experts say Masks Stop the Spread of the Virus?
It is CLEAR that by looking at the true position of the CDC and WHO as well as the high-quality science, masks will not protect you against infection from COVID-19. So why is the media, many public health officials and the government saying masks work? Probably the best explanation comes from Joe Biden’s own COVID-19 Taskforce member, Dr. Michael Osterholm, Director of the Center for Infectious Disease Research and Policy (CIDRAP) at the University of Minnesota. Dr. Osterholm said, the issue of cloth mask use, “…hasn’t been science-based but rather heavily influenced by misinformation, emotion, and even partisan politics.”
